About the RODOS Center

Where to find us:

The RODOS Center includes entities from across the Czech Republic, which are brought together under the auspices of the Vysoká škola báňská – Technical University of Ostrava. This university could be said to be the headquarters of the Center for the Development of Transportation Systems. The same campus is also home to the IT4Innovations Centre of Excellence, whose supercomputer provides the essential computing power to process and store enormous amounts of transportation data.

How long will we be operating?

The RODOS Center research program will last for 6 years (financial support is secured for the period from 1 April 2012 through 31 March 2018). However, after this funding period, we expect RODOS to still be here. We believe that the benefits achieved will be so significant and recognizable that they will continue to be incorporated into future transportation systems and further developed. One of the primary missions of the RODOS program is also to continually increase the competitiveness of the Czech Republic in the area of intelligent transportation systems.

Who funds us?

The total budget of the Center for the Development of Transportation Systems is CZK 211,800,000. 70% of this funding is provided by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, while the remaining 30% comes from the resources of the entities participating in the project. Private companies contribute a greater share of their own resources than research institutions.
